Police Scotland Indicative Coronavirus Interventions 2020-21

In response to the introduction of The Health Protection (Coronavirus) (Restrictions) (Scotland) Regulations 2020 and Coronavirus Act 2020, Police Scotland has developed a ‘Coronavirus Interventions’ (CVI) recording system.

The system allows Police Scotland to gather data in relation to the public co-operation levels with the new legislation. The system relies on Police Officers manually updating the system with the co-operation level they experienced when they encounter an individual in contravention of the new legislation.

The CVI data is indicative only and actual figures may be higher. CVI data is published weekly alongside a weekly bulletin and broken down by date, Police Scotland division, subdivisions and six categories of CVI:

– Total number of people dispersed when informed
– Total number of people dispersed but only when instructed
– Total number of people removed from place or premise
– Total number of people issued a fixed penalty notice
– Total number of people issued a fixed penalty notice under travel regulations
– Total number of people arrested

The maps below show the latest CVI data from 27 March 2020 to 14 April 2021 for each of the above categories (including overall totals but excluding fixed penalty notices issued under travel regulations).

Both absolute numbers and numbers per 100,000 people within a Police Scotland division are shown.
