According to the Committee to Protect Journalists there were 22 journalists murdered in 2020 out of a total of 31 killed. Despite calls and plans by the United Nations to end impunity to journalists, 2020 saw more than double the murders of previous years and added to the over 1400 journalists killed since 1993.
