Scotland’s City Centre Listed Building Footprints

Historic Environment Scotland (HES) Listed Building (LB) data is released as a point data set of 67,355 records representing 46,786 listed buildings.

The maps below visualise the category of LBs within Scotland’s city centres in terms of their building footprints, as derived through enrichment with Open Street Map (OSM) building polygons.

Where a LB point did not intersect a building footprint, the original LB point was used in the maps.

  1. Beautiful / fascinating maps, thank you for sharing. It’s interesting to see that Edinburgh and Stirling castles don’t get ‘hit’ – presumably a result of multiple OSM building polygons, and a single, non-coincident, LB point. I wonder if OSM has any sort of tag to associate multiple polygon features into one object…?
