Scottish Trunk Road Fatal Accidents

There were a total of 519 fatal accidents on Scotland’s trunk roads between 1st January 2010 and 31st December 2019. Over this period, the deadliest years were 2013 and 2016 with 63 fatalities each year. The deadliest road was the A9 with 74 fatalities in total.

The fatalities recorded occurred at locations which were part of the trunk road network at the time of the accident. As a result of changes to the network during this ten year period, some accidents recorded on the trunk road network may now be located on roads which have subsequently been de-trunked and now form part of the local road network under the responsibility of the local authority.

CrashMap shows more detailed information on the location of road fatalities over a greater time period. Slight and serious incidents, casualty types and vehicle types are also included.
