Snow can cover the ground in Scotland for a long time.
Using daily northern hemisphere snow and ice analysis data from the US National Snow and Ice Data Center, the following map shows the estimated number of days of snow cover (~1 to 151 days) across Scotland between 1st January 2020 and 30th December 2020.
Two kilometre squares on the Isle of Jura (highlighted in red) were calculated to have had 288 days of snow cover.
Climate change is likely to affect the future of snow in Scotland.
